“Joy is not made to be a crumb.” ~Mary Oliver
What a joy it was to hear Ohio author Maggie Smith on December 8th at Women Writing for (a) Change. She read poems from two of her collections Good Bones and Goldenrod and selections from her memoir You Could Make This Place Beautiful before answering questions and signing books. She inspired the audience to write a cento, a poem made up of lines from other writers, and encouraged all writers to “keep going.” Thank you, Maggie! A heartfelt thank you to the donors who made this event possible: Annette Januzzi Wick and Mark D. Manley, Ellen Austin-Li and Jolly Li, Elizabeth and Brian Mannion, Laurel and Jerry Chambers, Tina Neyer, and an anonymous donor.
