Explore and name why we writers resist and fear sending work out for potential publication. Explore why we want to, and what we can learn together so that more writing by women makes it to publication. Continue the journey with some tips on knowing when a piece is ready to meet the wider world, how to find appropriate possible homes for it; draft a bio and cover letter, as well as the process of sending work out. Let’s increase Women and Nonbinary voices in the world!

Bounty of Words is Women Writing for (a) Change's annual fall fundraiser celebrating stories, community, and the power of voice. Join us for an evening of connection and inspiration while supporting outreach writing programs, free classes, author readings, and scholarships—helping ensure that more voices are heard, valued, and shared.

This year’s keynote speaker is Jackie Congedo, Chief Executive Officer of the Nancy & David Wolf Holocaust & Humanity Center. Jackie will share reflections on storytelling, her background as a journalist, and why bearing witness through story matters in her work today.

Please bring yourself, a partner, and a friend or five. What happens at Women Writing for a Change is worth celebrating!

We’ll use the Women Writing for (a) Change practices of gathering in circle, writing, and thoughtful but optional sharing throughout our time together. And we'll be guided by the creative intuitive SoulCollage® process in which personal collaged cards are created with simple materials to aid in a journey of self-discovery. Poetry doesn't have to be long, complicated, or intimidating. Sometimes a few carefully chosen words can hold an entire story, a moment of wonder, or a truth waiting to be discovered.

In this Saturday afternoon generative workshop, we'll explore the power of writing small. Through guided prompts, accessible poetic forms, and opportunities for sharing, participants will experiment with brief writing that captures moments, images, and insights with clarity and care.Whether you're new to poetry or a seasoned writer, you'll leave with several small pieces and a renewed appreciation for how much meaning can live in just a few lines. No prior poetry experience required.

Core Class is where you find your writing community! Facilitators create a welcoming space with inspiration, writing prompts, small groups for feedback, and opportunities to read and listen in community.

About the Facilitator: Laurie started writing in Women Writing for (a) Change circles in 2011, completed the WWfaC leadership training program in 2013, and has been facilitating writing circles for all genders since 2015. She has also held outreach circles for survivors of abuse and incarcerated individuals. Laurie is a poet, scientist, mother of triplets, labyrinth walker, birder and amateur photographer. Her books, What I Can Carry and What We Are Made Of, are available from Finishing Line Press.

Through poetry, reflection, and generative writing, we'll practice paying attention to the simple gifts that often go unnoticed. Together we'll discover how wonder is not something we find but something we cultivate.
