Within each of us is a creative spirit longing to emerge, be nurtured, and be celebrated. Often, we tend to silence this deep well of creativity or at least we don’t take the time to tap into this inner wisdom. 

In this new, experiential class, we will each be creating our own piece of art based on our experiences in class. We will all start with the same base item (which will be mailed to you by the facilitator), and add to it each week. Over the course of 9 sessions, we will participate in a variety of expressive arts sequences that guide us to go inside ourselves and to tap into that creative wise energy.

The design of the class combines expressive arts with writing and the values of Women’s Writing circles. Much of the format will feel very familiar. However, rather than focusing on each other’s writing, we will focus on witnessing each other’s process and creating a safe place for everyone to voice their own wisdom and be heard as their wisdom emerges. The goals are for participants to gain self-insight, awaken and honor their creativity and wisdom, and to witness and support each other’s process and journey. 

No art experience is needed, just a willingness to try new things and be light with the process. The emphasis is on following your own creative spirit, not the final product. 

Participants will want to have some basic art materials on hand for this course. These do not need to be expensive! Whatever you already have, or getting these materials at “5 below” is fine. We are practicing and playing! For the first class, it will be helpful to have watercolor paper, watercolors, water cup, paintbrushes, paper towel, a plate to trace a circle or a compass. There will be a few other art supplies needed over the nine classes, but nothing expensive.

To meet Charlie and learn more, join the free sampler session on December 4. For the sampler session, all you will need is some type of paper and something to add color, such as crayons, colored pencils, markers, etc.- whatever you already have will be fine.
