The Way of Tea - The Japanese Tea Ceremony: Discovery through Ritual & Writing
Facilitator: Pam Temple and Guest Artists Ted and Souchi Ishiu
Time: 10:00 am to 12:30 pm
Open to: All Genders 16+
Join Women Writing for (a) Change for the ninth program in this series -- a unique opportunity to enjoy a traditional Japanese Tea Ceremony and reflect through writing in community.
In this workshop, you will watch temae (tea making procedure) and experience it yourself. Inspired by the tea ceremony, participants will be guided in their own journey to discover, question and understand more about the traditions of Japanese culture and relate the use of ritual to that of American cultures. Time will be allotted for those who would like to share part of their writing, and for brief discussion.
Women Writing for (a) Change partners with Japan America Society of Greater Cincinnati for the ninth program in this series. The series is designed to explore and consider a variety of cross cultural expressions, and to foster deeper understanding and awareness of different racial, ethnic, and cultural traditions. New and experienced writers are welcome. Bring your favorite writing materials or use supplies provided.
Note: This program will take place at Women Writing for (a) Change, 6906 Plainfield Road, Cincinnati, OH 45236. Tuition includes matcha tea and a sweet.
Supported by the generosity of community contributions to the ArtsWave Campaign.
