The Thanksgiving Play
Facilitator: Annette Januzzi Wick and Lisa Prantl
Time: 1:30 pm to 5:30pm
Open to: All Genders 16+
Join Women Writing for (a) Change for the sixth program in this ten-part series, as we explore a holiday Americans have come to know as Thanksgiving at Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park.
After viewing the play, Annette Januzzi Wick and Lisa Prantl will lead a discussion on how we speak or act as allies. How can we use language to further enrich our understanding of historical events? Can individual stories be reclaimed from stereotypical portrayals?
Writing prompts will guide participants in their own journey to discover, question, and understand.

The Thanksgiving Play - A group of liberal artists walk the fine line of political correctness in this fresh, satirical comedy. Armed with progressive lingo and questionably good intentions, they attempt to devise a culturally sensitive Thanksgiving play for local elementary schools. Slowly but surely, the well-meaning plans dissolve into an outrageous sendup of PC behavior. The Thanksgiving Play treads the minefields of appropriation to inject some laughter into activism, apathy and all the assumptions in between. ~Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park
