Where Does It Hurt? Writing Through the Reality of Chronic Illness - 4-Class Series

How does chronic pain or illness define our lives, live in our language? This monthly class focuses on writing as a means of coping with the physical challenges of living with a chronic illness or pain.
We will explore different forms from fiction through poetry to find the way to best give voice to not only our bodies' trials, but the emotional and mental work of conditions that require constant physical self care.
To support our writing, we will offer art projects, readings, and small group time. From Sonnets to Rants: We may not be able to change our situations but we can find the language to express and share the full impact of our experience in community.

Janie Baer is a 2015 graduate of the Conscious Feminine Leadership Academy and facilitator with Women Writing for (a) Change. She is into her fourth decade of living with diabetes.
Karen Novak is a published novelist, a 2013 graduate of the Conscious Feminine Leadership Academy, and a long-time facilitator with Women Writing for (a) Change. She is a cancer survivor and is now dealing with severe scoliosis.
