This FREE Community Youth Program is in partnership with the Deer Park Branch of the Cincinnati Public Library.
Poetry is everywhere, including your favorite songs! It can be heard and felt in every musical genre.
We will use each participant's favorite pre-selected song to inspire individual expression and appreciation for the power of words and music. Laugh and have fun. Watch the music video of your musical selection as you write and share, and explore creative visual projects in community.
We will incorporate the WWf(a)C practices in each session, creating and holding brave and safe space that allows each writer to have personal creative writing time, an opportunity to give and receive positive feedback, and an invitation to read aloud to the group. No grades, no judgement, just open hearts, eyes, and ears!
A two-part summer session on June 23 - 24 from 11am-2:30pm each day.
Lunch, snacks, and drinks included.
Space is limited, registration is required.
PLEASE NOTE: You may choose any genre of music, but there must be a clean or radio edited version. For songs that center on serious social issues, there must be a positive message or turn in the song that makes for healthy discussion.
This series is facilitated by MoPoetry Phillips. A spoken word artist in the Cincinnati area, MoPoetry is a certified facilitator for Women Writing for (a) Change. She believes that the sharing of stories will help us heal, better understand one another, bring unity, and build strong communities.
Program made possible in part by a grant from the Harris Family Fund.
