"If you are always trying to be normal you will never know how amazing you can be." ~Maya Angelou
During this 6-week session, teens and young women in grades 8-11 will use the art of writing to find an anchor in themselves amidst pressures and expectations from popular culture, ads and social media that can cause us to suppress our creativity and ingenuity and keep us from finding our true selves.
Through engaging writing prompts, shared reading, brave conversations, and crafting, we will dig deeper into our culture's media messages, body image, empowerment and more, and uncover happier, more creative selves. If you long for your true self and a stronger sense of self-worth, this session will employ the magic of our authentic voices to find more confidence and help you take positive action in the real world.
