The WWf(a)C Foundation believes it is essential that women and girls have a safe space in which to speak and write their truths, to share their words and to open their imaginations without limits. The truth of our lives can be a fragile thing, and no one should be silenced, belittled or misunderstood.
The WWf(a)C Foundation supports the existence of a community which we consciously and intentionally create together. This community is a living entity which continuously needs the loving attention of its members so that its values will be maintained. In this community, we offer safe environments where feminism is practiced, where there is respect for the words and experiences of all women and girls, and where we can take ourselves seriously as writers. In this community, there is reverence for our time together. We listen and respond to one another in a noncompetitive way with the intent to raise up what is powerful and strong in each of us.
-
The WWf(a)C Foundation embraces the concept of hospitality - we intend to welcome all women and girls who come to the WWf(a)C programs and to extend to them kindness and respect. We believe that diversity enriches our lives, and we welcome differences in race, class, culture, sexual orientation, life experience, writing style and skill, opinion, personality and belief system.
-
The WWf(a)C Foundation acknowledges that both openness and the setting of healthy boundaries are required for art to be made and communities to grow and deepen. We believe that we can care for others without forgetting to care for ourselves. Respect for one another is a primary concept in our community.
-
The WWf(a)C Foundation believes that there is joy in the act of creating, that there is pleasure in the beauty of words, and intimacy even in silence. When women and girls are free to express themselves, they are a powerful force for change and healing.
-
The WWf(a)C Foundation is committed to learning how women can mentor and be mentored: can bring together the wisdom and authority of elders with the wisdom and authority of novices.
-
The WWf(a)C Foundation is devoted to a feminist process of making art and building community. This process is life-giving, life-affirming, non-coercive and mutually respectful. When this process is practiced by women and girls, it benefits all of society, men as well as women.

The WWf(a)C Foundation recognizes connections between: art and politics, art and spirituality, art and life, writer and audience, history and the present, the present and the future. We honor the women who went before us: family members, personal mentors, feminist writers, activists and teachers. They have brought us to where we are today, and we hope to lead and nurture the women who will take our places in the future.
The Foundation also sponsors outreach programs which deliver creative writing programs and performances to women and girls in greater Cincinnati's diverse communities, through collaborations including YWCA, Peaslee Neighborhood Center, and Enjoy the Arts.
